TF6.6.3 Radishes for water quality
Project aim: This project seeks an innovative approach to reducing overland and deep drainage pollutant loads entering the GBR lagoon by applying deep-rooted cover crops of daikon radish to a citrus plantation to: 1) improve infiltration rates during rain events; 2) improve the movement of water through the soil profile (reducing the amount of water required for the crop); 3) improve water use efficiency through increasing organic matter and water holding capacity.
