RP198 Development of a Generic Pesticide Selection Support Tool
This project will develop a tool for farmers, resellers, extension officers and agronomists to guide their choice of which pesticides to apply to their crops and land based on their risk to aquatic environments. The tool combines our knowledge of the physicochemical and toxicological properties of pesticides, application rates and the probability of seasonal and forecasted rainfall. This tool will provide decision support for farmers and be an aid for communicating with farmers to recommend environmentally safer choices with the goal of changing pesticide use patterns and ultimately reducing the risk of pesticides to Great Barrier Reef ecosystems.
